The One Thing People Don’t Tell You About Planning a Wedding

When I got engaged, there were many things I expected to happen, for example, people asking obscure questions about the most minute of wedding details (apparently colors are a big deal). However, the one thing I didn’t expect was that I’d begin to have wedding nightmares.

I’ve had about four wedding nightmares in the eight months I’ve been engaged, and they never fail to cause me to wake up in a panic. Most of the time, the things that happen in my dreams are fairly unrealistic, but there’s part of me that seriously fears that they might come true.
I didn't expect to have wedding nightmares when planning my weddingMy most recent wedding nightmare happened just a few weeks ago. It was the hour of the ceremony on my wedding day. I was in my dress, and all of my loved ones were present. The wedding party was lined up and ready to walk down the aisle. The music began to play and the line started moving when, suddenly, I remembered that I forgot to book a photographer. In the dream, I was walking through the doors of the church, arm-in-arm with my dad, on the phone with a photographer saying, “The ceremony is starting right now, so get here ASAP, please.” It was ludicrous.

I have always had a love for photos and photography, and I am very particular about how professional photos look. Therefore, it has been a very important priority for me to find the perfect photographer for my wedding day. After I had the dream that I forgot to book one, I ran to my wedding binder in full panic mode and triple checked that I sent the contract and deposit to my photographer.

Thankfully, I’m not alone in having wedding nightmares–my fiance has them, too! The other night, he dreamed that we didn’t book a DJ. We always seem to have dreams about things that we’ve already booked or decided upon. I don’t know why they keep happening, but at least they give some added excitement to wedding planning!

Did you or are you having wedding nightmares? I’d love to hear about your crazy dreams in the comments!

  2. Omg. Wait until the day of the wedding. All kinds of crazy things happened to me, haha, including Military Husband losing my ring and having to buy a new one the day of the wedding! But it makes it memorable. Just remember, take a deep breath and no matter what happens, you look beautiful, everyone is excited to see you walk down the aisle and you are marrying the most important person in your world. It’s really a beautiful moment you want to take in 100% without worrying about all those little details. xxxooo

    1. Omg I can’t believe he lost the ring! We’re a pretty laid back couple, and we’ve actually talked about all the things that could go wrong. I’m the end, it makes for good memories and we’re excited to see what happens 🙂
