For years, I’ve struggled with keeping my skin clear of blemishes. I can remember having acne since middle school, but it didn’t get bad until my junior year of college. Suddenly, I began having cystic breakouts on my cheeks and along my jawline. It was painful and, preparing to enter the work force, it was embarrassing.
The summer before my final year in college, I finally decided to see a dermatologist. She put me on 2 different medications and recommended a few skin care products. Since making some switches to my skin care routine, my skin has never looked or felt more healthy! Though my complexion is nowhere near perfect, I am happy to finally feel confident in my own skin.
1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash: This face wash is a life saver. It is formulated with salylic acid, a proven acne/bacteria fighting ingredient, yet it is gentle on skin. I wash my face with this product twice a day, morning and night. It leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed.
2. CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion: The main reason I started using this lotion is because is has SPF 30. SPF is essential for your skin, no matter what time of the year or day. If you’re like me, you might have acne scarring or dark spots from previous breakouts; sun damage can make those spots worse. SPF can help clear up your dark spots quicker, while preventing new ones from occurring.
3. Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Corrector: Like I said, my cystic acne left me with a crazy amount of dark spots and scarring. This Garnier treatment is made with Vitamin C, which can help lighten the appearance of discoloration on your skin. I use this twice daily, and it truly seems to brighten my skin and speed up the disappearance of my dark spots and redness.
4. Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Mud Mask: This is a new favorite that I picked up on a whim from Target. It is formulated with salylic acid, tomatoes, charcoal, aloe, and more! Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants, which can help detoxify skin. Charcoal is known to draw out impurities like a magnet. Aloe is super soothing, leaving skin feeling soft and nourished. Overall, I’m loving this mask (plus, it smells fantastic)!

My skin is horrible! Almost nothing works for it. It’s so frustrating. The only products that work are Neutrogena’s Rapid Clear facial scrub and moisturizer. I instantly notice a difference when I start using them again!
